Estimations

PreviousChatsNextHighlights

Last updated 5 months ago

The estimation feature in Rally helps teams assess task complexity and plan their work more effectively.

When estimating a task, team members can input their estimates using the Fibonacci sequence - a widely adopted method in planning poker that helps account for the increasing uncertainty in larger tasks.

As you consider your estimates, provides suggestions based on multiple factors including task complexity, team roles, and experience levels.

These suggestions serve as a reference point, helping participants think through different perspectives while making their estimates.

Need to time-box your estimation discussions? Set the estimation timer to keep the process moving smoothly.

If you're using Rally for other agile ceremonies where estimation isn't needed, you can easily skip this step and focus on your discussion.

The estimation process is designed to support your team's natural planning flow while providing helpful insights.

All estimates and their context stay linked to the agenda item, creating a valuable reference for sprint planning sessions and helping teams improve their estimation accuracy over time.

Note: Estimation settings can be adjusted based on your team's preferences and ceremony type.
